The 2026 cohort of the UCLA Design Media Arts MFA program invites you to CORPOREAL TECHNOLOGIES, a group exhibit featuring five new works by Chelly Jin, Sadia Quddus, Sagan Yee, Dredge Ops, and Xiner Lan.
This show represents a three-year culmination of critical engagement with the tool-systems that shape us as working artists in 21st century Los Angeles. Video games, multi-channel performances, and sculptural assemblages of light and hardware give material form to embodied visions of past, present, and future. Join us at the Broad Art Center’s New Wight Gallery on May 14 for opening night, where we look forward to the interplay of our collective shadows mingling upon the gallery wall.
Fractured echoes of an entombed body coalesce and resurrect under an algorithmic gaze. Virtual bodies contort at the press of a button, subject to cartoon gravity and gamified spectacle. Global crisis gives way to hivemind psychosis, while choreographed code traces an uncertain future with every gesture.
These five works remediate the body through their respective tool-systems, each limb tagged for internal tracking. Exhausting itself through the mere act of witness, the body achieves unlikely agency via that selfsame circuitry. Through data stream and surveillance feed, projection map and physics engine, CORPTECH renders our collective body legible to machinic and organic processes alike: operating/operated upon, metabolized/metastasizing, sovereign/laid bare.
